All in motion

In the world of castors we make a difference between swivel and fixed castors:

With Swivel castors the fork is fitted to a swivel head (swivel bearing), which will be mounted to a trolley or machine. As a result, the equipment can easily be moved in all directions.

To provide a smooth swivel motion of the fork, the wheel generally has an offset. This is the horizontal distance between the axis of the swivel bearing and the wheel center. If the right dimensions are applied, the offset allows a smooth swiveling of the castor as well as directional stability.

For attaching the swivel fork to your equipment, you can choose between a mounting plate, expander for tubes or single bolt hole fitting.

Swivel castors can also be provided with various types of brake mechanisms, for example:

• The wheel brake, this only blocks the rotation of the wheel.
• The Total/directional lock, it blocks both the rotation of the wheel as well as the motion of the
  swivel head.
• The directional lock, this blocks the motion swivel head, causing the swivel castor to move in one
  direction only.

Fixed castors can not turn around and provide stability when moving straight ahead. For the attachment of fixed castors to the equipment generally only mounting plates with four boltholes are used.
