Change of environment

External effects can damage the transport system, in particular the wheels. Also chemical environmental factors can play a role. Basically, we distinguish two types of harmful chemical influences:

• Contact with chemicals
• Environmental influences which occur in liquid or gaseous substances at the site of use.

Both influences can be harmful and possible of influence to the overall performance of the wheel or its components. Not only the concentration of the aggressive chemical substances, but also the humidity, the temperature and the time that the wheels are exposed are factors of importance.

The consequence may be that product damage occurs in the form of corrosion, modification of the surface and/or mechanical properties and/or leave traces of lubricating substances. Wheels that are used in such circumstances must be checked for suitability. As well as all components that are being used.

The data in the following tables can be used as a guideline. The specified values do not apply for chemical mixtures.
