Types of brake mechanisms

The brake mechanism of a castor has the task to keep the equipment or machine in a stationary position. This is a very important component in relation to the safety.

Six types of brake mechanisms are available for selection:

1. Wheel brake type /B (BE)

The brake only blocks the rotation of the wheel.

2. Wheel and swivel brake in trailing direction (Total Stop)

This brake mounted in trailing direction of the castor, locks the wheel and the fork head at the same time.

3. Wheel and swivel brake in non trailing direction (Total Stop)

This brake mounted in front of the castor, locks the wheel and the fork head at the same time.

4. Central braking system (medical application)

This brake integrated in the wheel body, locks the wheel and the fork head at the same time.

5. Directional/Lock (medical application)

This directional lock integrated into the wheel body, locks only the fork head for an easy straightforward movement of equipment.

6. Directional/Lock FIX Type 2 P1

Directional lock (in trailing direction), locks temporarily the fork head for an easy straightforward movement of equipment.
